If you're a fan of watching Jeanette Ottesen, Lotte Friis, or Rikke Møller swim their way to gold for Denmark at international championships, you'll be pleased to know that it's actually possible to catch all the action from home with Danish commentators. And we certainly appreciate that!

Watch Swimming on TV2 Sport and Eurosport.

In Denmark, the primary channels for swimming broadcasts are TV2 Sport and Eurosport. While TV2 Sport features commentary from Michael Stærke and the highly successful Danish swimmer, Mette Jacobsen, over on Eurosport, it's Ejnar Larsen and Ricki Clausen bringing the action from the pool to viewers at home.

Having watched several international swimming championships on both channels, I personally favor TV2 Sport as the best place to enjoy swimming. This preference is largely due to their quick interviews and insights featuring both Danish swimmers and international stars immediately after their races, which adds that extra touch.

But if there are no swimming broadcasts on TV, you can always learn more about swimming on tv2 sport or svoem.dk.

TV2 and Eurosport Cover the European, World, and Olympic Swimming Championships

The increased frequency of swimming broadcasts today compared to a few years ago is largely due to both TV2 Sport and Eurosport airing every international championship event. Both the European Championships, World Championships, and Olympics are covered extensively, featuring both preliminaries and finals—much to the delight of us swimming enthusiasts!

And this usually applies to both short course and long course championships.

DR Livestreaming Has Also Joined the Wave

If you missed out during the recent Danish Open in swimming in March 2016, DR also streamed the event live—just via the internet. They've been successfully doing this for the past five years, as many people are eager to follow along, even if they can't experience the vibrant atmosphere of the swimming hall in person.

It Hasn't Always Been This Way...

Back in 2011, swimming was never broadcast on Danish channels, which frustrated countless Danish fans. This was likely because swimming (especially in Denmark) wasn't initially considered the best sport for TV broadcasts. There were long medal ceremonies between each race (which disrupted the momentum), swimming events lasting over 15 minutes (which aren't particularly thrilling for long durations), and we may not have had the top swimmers we do today, who can actually win medals at these international competitions. However, changes have been made, transforming swimming into more of a spectator sport—especially in Denmark.
